Star Lab
Katie, the Buena Vista County Naturalist, brought Star Lab to Newell-Fonda. The preschoolers really enjoyed getting to see the star constellations. This picture shows what Star Lab looks like. The children crawl in the tunnel shown on the side. Once inside, Katie projects the sky on the ceiling and points out different constellations. She also shares information about the stars. We are fortunate to have this learning opportunity.

Read Across America
Friday, March 2nd was "Read Across America" Day. This day was also Dr. Seuss' birthday. All week the preschoolers had been listening to books written by Dr. Seuss and doing a variety of activities around some of his books. On Friday, high school students came and read Dr. Seuss books to the preschoolers. We thank these high school students for sharing their time with us.
Dental Health
Mrs. Tiefenthaler has been teaching us about dental health. She showed the preschoolers the proper way to brush their teeth and gave them each a new tooth brush. Some of the children got to dress up like a tooth and other children brushed the food and "sugar bugs" off them. Mrs. Mefferd's performing arts class put on a puppet show for the morning class. This show encouraged the children to brush their teeth and visit the dentist. Please reinforce good dental health at home and make sure your children brush their teeth at least twice a day.
