Moths and Butterflies

Katie, the B.V. County Naturalist, came and taught us about moths and butterflies.  She showed us some butterflies and read us a story.  The preschoolers pretended to be an egg, then a caterpillar, then a chrysalis, and finally a butterfly.  She also taught us a song to help remember the parts of an insect.  We thank Katie for teaching us about nature this year.

A Duck and a Chick

Jaidyn and her grandpa shared a baby chick and duck with the A.M. class.  They are raising them and brought them to school so we could see them.  The children loved holding and petting them.

Easter Parties

We had our Easter parties before leaving for Spring Break.  We ate yummy snacks and hunted for Easter eggs.  The children did not seem to mind that we had to have our egg hunts indoors.  The morning class played an egg balancing game and the afternoon class dyed eggs.  Thanks parents for such a fun time!

Grandparents' Day

On March 14th, we invited our grandparents to come to preschool.  The children were SO EXCITED to have them come.  The preschoolers and their grandparents worked together on cards, decorated frames, built with blocks and ate a snack together.  The Scholastic Book Fair was also open, so many of the children received a new book from their grandparents.  They had fun showing their books to their friends.

Beach Day

On February 28, we participated in "Beach Day" with the rest of the elementary classes.  This was a fun was to celebrate Read Across America Day.  Since March 1 is Dr. Seuss' birthday, we used his books to read on that day.  The preschoolers came dressed in their beach clothes and looked at books on beach towels. We ate snack "picnic style" on their beach towels and high school students came and read Dr. Seuss books to us.  We used Dr. Seuss books to practice rhyming words all week.  Many of the children are getting very good at rhyming words.
