Nutrition Day

Monday, April 23rd was "Nutrition Day" at the Newell-Fonda Elementary.  Staff members from Buena Vista Regional Medical Center taught the preschoolers about fruits and vegetables.  Following the lesson, we went to the gym to exercise.  The children bowled using water bottles and participated in an obstacle course.  The kids loved the obstacle coarse.  They went through it over and over.  We learned exercise can be fun.  Each child received a bag from BVRMC with ideas of fun movement activities to do this summer.

Librarians Visit Preschool

The librarians from the Newell Public Library visited preschool. They read us some stories and told us about the summer reading program.  Summer is a great time to visit the library.  I hope you will make it part of your summer routine.

Easter Parties

The preschoolers had Easter parties before we left for Spring Break. We made baskets for the egg hunts before the parties. We made a bunny craft in the morning and played a game in the afternoon. Both classes had an egg hunt and ate snack. Thank you to the parents that helped with the parties. The kids had a great time.

Pajama Party

We finished our week of learning about the letter "P" by having a pajama party. We wore our pajamas to school, played with pillow pets, ate popcorn, drank punch and watched a video about the letter P. The highlight of the day was having pillow fights.

High School Storyteller

Mrs. Mefferd's performing arts class has been working on storytelling. They shared their stories with the elementary classes. Carlos told the story The Wheels on the Bus to the morning class. He did an excellent job, and he had the preschoolers laughing and really enjoying the story. We thank Carlos for sharing his talent with us.

Grandparents' Day

Grandparents' Day was held at Newell-Fonda on March 22nd. The grandparents helped the preschoolers decorate eggs and make cards. Some built Lego structures together, and the cooks provided cookies for snack. The book fair was also a popular place to visit. We had a lot of fun having our grandparents visit our classroom.

Baby Lambs

Baby lambs visited our classroom. Rusty Corderman brought a couple of lambs for the morning class to see and pet. The preschoolers thought they sounded like human babies when they were crying for their mom. We thank Rusty for sharing his lambs with us.
